Who full-face laser is for
If facial hair has become a daily frustration, full-face laser offers a calmer, longer-lasting alternative to constant upkeep. It is ideal for women who want to step away from the cycle of threading, waxing and tweezing.
- Women tired of frequent threading, waxing or plucking on the upper lip, chin, cheeks, jawline and sides of the face
- Those with darker or coarser facial hair seeking a smoother, more even finish
- Anyone whose skin is irritated by repeated waxing or threading and is prone to redness or ingrown hairs
- Women who want to reduce the time spent on facial hair maintenance
- All skin tones — the dual-wavelength Candela system is safe and effective across Fitzpatrick types I-VI
- Clients looking for a treatment suited to sensitive facial skin, performed with contact cooling for comfort
Why choose By Shiva for facial laser
The face is delicate, and the skin here is more reactive than almost anywhere else on the body. That is exactly why the device matters. We use the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus®, a dual-wavelength system combining Alexandrite and Nd-YAG lasers, which lets us tailor each session precisely to your skin tone and hair type rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all setting.
Built-in contact cooling protects and soothes the skin surface as each pulse is delivered, making the experience far more comfortable than many people expect — particularly across sensitive areas like the upper lip and chin. Because the system is safe and effective on all skin tones from Fitzpatrick I to VI, women who have previously been told they are not suitable candidates can often be treated here.
Beyond the technology, you are in experienced, attentive hands. Every full-face treatment at By Shiva begins with a proper consultation and patch test, so your course is planned around your skin, your hair and your goals — never rushed.
How laser hair removal works
Laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and converted to heat, which targets the follicle and disrupts its ability to produce new hair. Because hair grows in cycles and the laser is most effective on hairs in their active growth phase, a course of treatments is needed to catch each follicle at the right moment — which is why we recommend a course of six sessions for the full face.
Over the course, treated hairs shed and regrowth becomes progressively finer, sparser and slower. The result is long-term hair reduction and a noticeably smoother, lower-maintenance face.
Your appointment, step by step
From your first patch test to each treatment session, here is what to expect at By Shiva.
- Consultation and patch test: 24-48 hours before your first full session we assess your skin and hair, discuss your goals and medical history, and test a small area to confirm your skin responds well.
- Preparation: on the day of treatment, the area is cleansed and the hair is closely shaved if needed. You and your practitioner wear protective eyewear throughout.
- Treatment: the GentleMax Pro Plus® handpiece is passed over each section of the face — upper lip, chin, cheeks, jawline and sides — delivering precise pulses with cooling between them.
- Cooling and soothing: the contact-cooling system calms the skin as we work, and a soothing product is applied afterwards.
- Aftercare guidance: we explain how to care for your skin over the following days and book your next session, usually 4-6 weeks later, to follow your hair growth cycle.
What it feels like in the room
Most clients describe each pulse as a quick, warm snap — often likened to the flick of an elastic band — eased by the cooling that works alongside the laser. Because the full face is a small area, the treatment is brief, usually around 30 minutes including preparation.
Some areas, such as the upper lip, can feel a little more sensitive than others, but the contact cooling keeps things comfortable and the whole session is over quickly. Your practitioner checks in with you throughout and adjusts as needed so you always feel at ease.
Results and what to expect
Laser hair removal is a progressive treatment. Results build gradually across your course rather than appearing overnight.
- First few days after a session: treated hairs may appear to 'shed' as they work their way out of the follicle.
- After your first 1-2 sessions: regrowth typically slows and feels finer than before.
- Across the course of 6: hair becomes progressively sparser, lighter and slower to return.
- After completing your course: you can expect long-term hair reduction and a smoother, lower-maintenance face.
- Maintenance: occasional top-up sessions may be recommended over time, as hormones and other factors can stimulate some regrowth.
Caring for your skin afterwards
A little aftercare keeps facial skin calm and helps you get the most from each session.
- Expect mild redness or warmth for a few hours — this usually settles quickly.
- Avoid sun exposure and sunbeds, and apply a high-SPF sunscreen daily to the treated area.
- Skip hot baths, saunas, steam rooms and strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours.
- Do not pluck, wax or thread between sessions — shaving only, so the laser has hair to target at your next visit.
- Avoid perfumed products, exfoliants and active skincare (such as retinoids and acids) on the area for a couple of days.
- Keep the skin moisturised and handle it gently while it recovers.
Safety and suitability
Your safety comes first. A patch test is required 24-48 hours before your first session so we can confirm your skin responds well to the laser before treating the full face. The Candela GentleMax Pro Plus® is suitable for all skin tones (Fitzpatrick I-VI), and we assess your suitability at consultation, including any medications, skin conditions or recent sun exposure.
Laser hair removal is not suitable during pregnancy, and it is not recommended over very recently tanned skin, active infections or certain skin conditions. If you are taking light-sensitising medication or are unsure whether the treatment is right for you, let us know at consultation and we will advise accordingly.
