Is this treatment right for you?

Full Leg laser is one of our most popular treatments, ideal for anyone who wants to step away from daily shaving and reduce hair across the whole leg in one focused appointment.

  • Women who are tired of frequent shaving, waxing or epilating the legs
  • Those prone to ingrown hairs, razor bumps or irritation after waxing
  • Anyone wanting smoother, lower-maintenance legs for the long term
  • Clients with darker as well as lighter skin tones, thanks to our dual-wavelength technology
  • Women preparing ahead of holidays, weddings or special occasions who want lasting results
  • Those who prefer a single appointment covering the full leg rather than treating areas separately

Why choose By Shiva for laser hair removal

At By Shiva we use the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus®, one of the most respected laser systems in professional aesthetics. Its dual-wavelength design pairs an Alexandrite laser, ideal for lighter skin, with an Nd-YAG laser suited to deeper skin tones, which means we can treat the full range of Fitzpatrick I-VI skin types safely and effectively.

Built-in contact cooling soothes and protects the skin throughout, making each pulse far more comfortable than many older systems. The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle to gradually reduce regrowth, so over a course of sessions you can expect noticeably finer, sparser hair and far less day-to-day upkeep.

Treating the full leg in a single 60-minute appointment is also wonderfully efficient. Rather than booking the lower leg, knees and thighs separately, everything is covered in one visit by an experienced therapist who tailors the settings to your skin and hair.

How laser hair removal works

Laser hair removal works by directing gentle pulses of light energy into the hair follicle, where the pigment absorbs the light and converts it to heat. This heat disrupts the follicle's ability to produce new hair, leading to progressively finer and sparser regrowth over time.

Because hair grows in cycles and the laser is most effective on actively growing hairs, a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart is needed to treat the legs comprehensively. This is why we recommend a course of six, with results building steadily as treatment progresses.

Your appointment, step by step

We want every visit to feel calm, professional and reassuring. Here is what a Full Leg session involves from arrival to aftercare.

  1. Before your first session you'll attend a brief consultation and patch test, carried out 24-48 hours in advance to check how your skin responds and to confirm the most suitable settings.
  2. On the day, your therapist reviews your skin, discusses any changes since your last visit and ensures the area is clean and freshly shaved.
  3. You'll be given protective eyewear, and a small amount of the area is treated first so you can feel the sensation before we continue.
  4. The therapist works methodically from ankle to upper thigh, gliding the handpiece across the skin while the integrated contact cooling keeps you comfortable.
  5. Once the full leg is complete, a soothing product is applied and your therapist talks you through aftercare.
  6. We confirm the timing of your next session to keep your course on track with your hair growth cycle.

What it feels like in the room

Most clients describe the sensation as a quick, warm flick against the skin, often likened to the snap of a light elastic band. The Candela GentleMax Pro Plus® delivers continuous contact cooling, which takes the edge off each pulse and makes the experience very manageable, even across a larger area like the full leg.

Our treatment room is private and calm, and your therapist will keep checking in with you throughout, adjusting pace and settings to keep you at ease. Sensitivity can vary across the leg, with bonier areas sometimes feeling a little sharper, but the session moves steadily and is over within the hour.

Results and what to expect

Laser hair removal is a gradual process, and results build with each session as more follicles are treated during their active growth phase.

  • In the days after a session, treated hairs may appear to 'shed' as they work their way out of the follicle.
  • After the first few sessions you'll typically notice regrowth becoming slower, finer and patchier.
  • Over a full course of six, many clients see a significant reduction in hair across the leg, with smoother results lasting far longer between treatments.
  • Because results are cumulative, consistency and correct spacing of sessions matter for the best outcome.
  • Occasional maintenance sessions may be recommended over time to keep results at their best, as we describe long-term hair reduction rather than permanent removal.

Caring for your skin afterwards

Looking after the treated area helps your skin settle and supports the best possible results between sessions.

  • Avoid sun exposure and sunbeds, and apply a high-factor SPF to the legs whenever they're uncovered.
  • Skip hot baths, saunas, steam rooms and strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours.
  • Avoid perfumed products, exfoliants and self-tan on the area for a couple of days.
  • Do not wax, pluck or epilate between sessions, as the laser needs the follicle intact; shaving is fine.
  • Keep the skin moisturised and treat it gently if you notice any mild temporary redness.
  • Follow the session spacing recommended by your therapist to keep your course on track.

Safety and suitability

For your safety, a patch test is required 24-48 hours before your first session. This allows us to assess how your skin responds to the laser and to fine-tune the settings to your individual skin tone and hair type before treating the full leg.

Laser hair removal is not suitable for everyone. We advise against treatment if you are pregnant, and certain medications, recent sun exposure, fake tan, or some skin conditions may mean we need to postpone or adjust your care. Please let us know about your medical history and any medications during consultation so your therapist can advise you honestly.

Frequently asked questions

Anything we have not covered? Call 07544 154415 or email and we will get back to you the same day.

Why do I need a patch test before my first session? +
A patch test, carried out 24-48 hours before your first appointment, lets us check how your skin reacts to the laser and confirm the safest, most effective settings for your skin tone and hair. It's a quick but essential step that helps us treat you with confidence.
How many sessions will I need? +
We typically recommend a course of six sessions, spaced several weeks apart, as hair grows in cycles and the laser works best on actively growing hairs. Our course of six is priced from £750, which offers better value than booking single sessions at £160 each.
Is laser hair removal permanent? +
Laser delivers long-term hair reduction rather than permanent removal. After a full course most clients enjoy much finer, sparser regrowth and far less maintenance, and occasional top-up sessions can help keep results at their best over time.
Does it work on darker skin tones? +
Yes. The Candela GentleMax Pro Plus® is a dual-wavelength system with an Nd-YAG laser suited to deeper skin tones alongside an Alexandrite laser for lighter skin, so we can safely treat the full range of Fitzpatrick I-VI skin types.
How should I prepare for my appointment? +
Please shave the legs the day before or on the morning of your session, and avoid waxing, plucking or epilating in the weeks beforehand. Come with clean skin free of lotions or self-tan, and avoid sun exposure and sunbeds in the run-up to your visit.
Does it hurt? +
Most clients find it very manageable. The sensation is often described as a warm, quick flick against the skin, and the built-in contact cooling soothes and protects throughout, making the full leg comfortable to treat within the hour.
