Who a lash lift is for

A lash lift suits almost everyone, from first-timers to those who simply want a low-maintenance way to enhance their eyes. If you love the idea of fluttery, lifted lashes without the upkeep of extensions, this is a wonderful place to start.

  • Anyone with straight or downward-pointing lashes who wants more visible curl and lift
  • People who want to wake up with defined, open-looking eyes and skip daily mascara
  • Those who find lash extensions high-maintenance or prefer a more natural finish
  • Glasses wearers whose lashes brush against the lenses
  • Clients with short to medium lashes wanting to make the most of their natural length
  • Anyone wanting a polished look for a holiday, wedding or special occasion

Why choose a lash lift at By Shiva

A lash lift works with what you already have, reshaping your own lashes into a soft, upward curve rather than adding anything artificial. The result is effortless definition that looks like your lashes on their very best day — the kind of subtle enhancement that has people wondering whether you've simply had a good night's sleep.

Because there are no extensions to maintain, there's no infill schedule to keep on top of and no daily fuss. You can swim, shower, exercise and go about your routine while your lashes stay beautifully lifted for weeks at a time. It's an ideal option for anyone who wants a refined result with genuinely minimal upkeep.

At By Shiva, every lash lift is tailored to your individual lash length and the look you're after, from a soft, natural curl to a more dramatic lift. Our calm, unhurried approach means you can relax fully while we take care of the detail.

How a lash lift works

Your natural lashes are gently lifted onto a soft silicone shield sized to your lash length and the curl you'd like. A conditioning lifting solution is then applied to reshape the lashes from the root, followed by a setting solution that locks the new curve in place. A nourishing finishing treatment leaves the lashes conditioned and glossy.

If you'd like extra depth and definition, a lash tint can be added so the lashes appear darker and fuller right to the tips — particularly flattering for fair or fine lashes. Your therapist will talk you through your options at the start of the appointment.

Your lash lift appointment, step by step

From the moment you arrive at our Whetstone clinic, the treatment is designed to be gentle, relaxing and entirely tailored to your eyes.

  1. We begin with a short consultation to discuss the curl and lift you'd like, check the results of your patch test and confirm your lashes and skin are happy to proceed.
  2. You relax back on the treatment couch with your eyes closed, and the lower lashes are gently protected with a soft under-eye pad.
  3. A silicone shield is positioned along the lash line and your natural lashes are carefully combed up and adhered to it in the chosen shape.
  4. The lifting solution is applied and left to gently reshape the lashes, followed by the setting solution to fix the new curl in place.
  5. If you've chosen to add a tint, this is applied next for richer colour and definition, then carefully removed.
  6. A conditioning treatment is applied, the shields are removed and your beautifully lifted lashes are revealed.

What you'll experience in the room

A lash lift is a calm, comfortable treatment carried out with your eyes closed throughout, so many clients find it deeply relaxing — some even drift off. You may notice a light, cool sensation as the solutions are applied and a faint scent, but the process should never sting or feel uncomfortable.

Your therapist works carefully and precisely around the eye area, and you'll be invited to keep your eyes gently closed and still while the lashes set. Around 45 minutes later, you'll open your eyes to a noticeably more lifted, open and defined look.

Your results and how long they last

The effect is visible immediately, and because the lift follows your natural lash growth cycle, it softens gradually rather than dropping suddenly.

  • Immediately: lashes appear lifted, longer-looking and more defined, with eyes looking instantly more open
  • First 24 hours: avoid water, steam and mascara so the curl can fully set
  • Weeks 1-4: enjoy lifted lashes with little to no maintenance — perfect for everyday or special occasions
  • Weeks 5-8: the lift naturally relaxes as your lashes renew through their growth cycle
  • Top-up: most clients choose to return roughly every 6-8 weeks to refresh the look

Looking after your lash lift

A little care in the first day helps your lift set perfectly and last as long as possible.

  • Keep lashes completely dry for 24 hours — avoid water, steam, saunas and sweaty workouts
  • Avoid mascara, eye make-up and make-up removers on the lashes for the first 24 hours
  • Try not to rub, pull or sleep face-down on your lashes while the curl settles
  • Brush lashes gently with a clean spoolie to keep them neat
  • Apply a nourishing lash serum or conditioning oil to keep lashes healthy between treatments
  • Avoid waterproof mascara, which can be harder to remove and may disturb the lift

Safety and suitability

A patch test is required 24-48 hours before your first lash lift to check how your skin reacts to the solutions used. This is a quick, simple step that helps us treat you safely, and we'll always arrange it in good time before your appointment. Please let us know if you've ever reacted to lash or beauty products in the past.

A lash lift isn't suitable if you have an active eye infection, recent eye surgery, very sensitive or broken skin around the eyes, or any known allergy to the products. If you are pregnant or have a medical eye condition we may ask you to check with your GP first, and we'll always discuss your individual circumstances with you before treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Anything we have not covered? Call 07544 154415 or email and we will get back to you the same day.

Do I really need a patch test? +
Yes. A patch test is required 24-48 hours before your first lash lift so we can make sure your skin is comfortable with the solutions used. It's a quick, simple step and an important part of treating you safely.
How long does a lash lift last? +
Most clients enjoy their lift for around 6-8 weeks, in line with the natural lash growth cycle. The curl relaxes gradually rather than dropping all at once, and many people return for a refresh every couple of months.
Will a lash lift damage my natural lashes? +
When carried out correctly by a trained therapist, a lash lift is gentle on your natural lashes. We use conditioning solutions and a finishing treatment to nourish the lashes, and following the simple aftercare advice helps keep them healthy.
What is the difference between a lash lift and lash extensions? +
A lash lift reshapes and curls your own natural lashes, with nothing added, for a low-maintenance, natural finish. Extensions add individual fibres for extra length and volume but need regular infills. A lift is ideal if you want effortless definition from your own lashes.
Can I add a tint to my lash lift? +
Yes. Adding a tint darkens the lashes right to the tips for extra depth and definition, which is especially flattering if your lashes are fair or fine. Your therapist can discuss this with you at your appointment, and a patch test covers the tint too.
Can I wear mascara after a lash lift? +
After the first 24 hours you can wear mascara, though most clients find they simply don't need it. If you do, a regular (non-waterproof) mascara is best, as waterproof formulas can be harder to remove and may disturb the lift over time.
